Relevance of Religion ?

How relevant is this concept in these days where technology is liberating mankind almost everyday.(faster than God ever tried ;) )
It is the most classical way ever invented to chain and bind human freedom and free thought. The irony is that, freedom and
free thought are not of big concern for most humans,we project a very casual attitude towards it,allowing ourselves to be
controlled and manipulated.

It has only managed to segregate humans rather than atleast remotely making us feel the same. Our DNA maybe 99.999% identical, but the biggest difference lies in the religious identity,do we really need to have this difference between us..it is one of the greatest blunders to be generated out of the brilliant thing that is our brain...what a Frankenstein, some of whose major contributions are creating hatred amongst people, war and bloodshed.

When a child is born, it is instantaneously attributed with a religion that of its parent's, how stupid is this, its very own parents curtailing its freedom.

All basic cornerstone beliefs of religion have been convincingly disproved by science, the beliefs of the church by Galileo and Copernicius, the omnipresence phenomenon, theory of creation(Intelligent Design) by Darwin, isn't it time we kick the concept, the most widely accepted "false belief" to the bin and establish a caste less society, where everyone is equal,we care, share and prosper?

Richard Dawkins(Inset Pic), the British ethologist and evolutionary Biologist who holds the Charles Simonyi Chair for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford has always(correctly) maintained that belief about religious faith is purely a state of delusion or mental illness.

The Need for Change

The over all picture appears volatile, disappointed investors, lack of jobs for the able and talented, sky roketting prices of the essential commodities, amongst all these the poor are getting hammered all the way down.

Wearing the vulture veils come out the breed called the politicians to feed on whatever is left of the socially drained. Its so ridiculous the major opposition called out a strike against the one in power in such times. It was so clear they never acieved anything from it,all they managed to do was to tighten the rope around the neck of a man to be hanged.
Clearly showing their contempt against common sense and overall wellness of the society. Also to understand that the strike was a convincing success in my native Kerala, acclaimed for its very literate population is extremely sad.

I wonder how different anyone else in Govt would have done from the existing one in handling the current scenario??

Better times are sure to be here, till then we will have to weather this storm of uncertain times.

These are the times we need men like Safdar Hashmi(inset pic) to educate the weak and the poor about the hypocratic political gimmics.

Everything changes, nothing remains without change.

Euthanasia:The right to die!

All of us have the right to live, with it shouldn't we get the right to die too, please note there is a huge difference with suicide,a cowardly act , which is more often brought about by emotional or social lows.

As strange as it may sound, euthanasia could be the most weirdest display of human freedom(even suicide follows a parallel logic),the will to decide as to when to die.The governments across the world pride on the fact that the governing system is for improving the quality of life,it can be argued that the existing laws on euthanasia directly contradicts their purpose, leaving people in a state of prolonged misery and hopelessness.

Since pain is always bad and continued pain is worse the subject should and must have the right to decide how he wants to handle the situation. What good will they feel leaving with constant pain and dissatisfaction?

The topic is gradually gaining high importance, Netherlands has made the act legal, some states in US have modified laws which support mercy killing (like providing the lethal shots, but can only be injected by the patient),this week we heard the news of the natural death of a French woman Chantal Sebire who has been suffering from excruciating pain for a long time now caused by Nasal cancer, she had been campaigning for a change in the French laws to give her the right to die, she died a painful death without being able to bring any change in the French laws.

Hope all these stories of pain and struggle force authorities and doctors to bring a change in the laws allowing for the person to decide when to end his suffering.

The pic shows Hugo Claus, the famous
Belgian writer philosopher who choose death by euthanasia on March 19th, he was 78 yrs old.

A Valentine to love for

The season of love is here.....if a man or woman in love hears this, an argument is sure to erupt.

For ages the things that have constantly kept man engaged and wondering are the vastness of space, its heavenly attributes and the very earthly feeling of love and relationship....I am keeping it simple and STRAIGHT here.

To understand this beautiful but complex yet simple human behavior, many theories have been proposed...like the Platonic concepts of love which was the accepted way of looking at it until a radical approach of the Freudian Psychoanalysis came through, the trianglar theory of love(no...not that 2 guy and a girl bollywood masala) with initmacy, passion and commitment being the corner stones of love....and many more to complicate the already cluttered field of love research!!

Love is good. To love or like something is a very conspicuous indicator of sanity (I don't think a mad man can love a woman or like anything). Not only does it show the society of our mental stability but also keeps us far from the tragedies of loneliness.

Close relationships help in making each others life complete, it certainly is not going to make us a complete human being
but will help in our quests to reach a state of being that is more happy and harmonious. It helps us in knowing new ways of approaching things at the cost of probable loss of individualism.....but then,I believe there is never a loser in this game......shouldn't we all be playing this wonderful game??

I dedicate this blog to Anush a.k.a crazybugga and my friend Sharath who are in love...ofcoz not with each other!!

Why women cry more than men?

Lets get the facts right....It is found that women cry approximately 4 times more than men do(Federer brings a heavy dent to this statistic )

But, why is this so? there have been multiple reasons put forward. I believe it is essentially a mixture of Nurture, nature and tactical moves(explanation coming up)...surprising, may be true!

The social system is such that men are not expected to cry, boys are teased and made fun of when they cry, they are taught to display strength and independence and leave all the emotion to women making a girl feel that tears are her ultimate evolutionary inheritance.

Also biological factors play a major role...women are well evolved to cry much better than men, tear glands are ever ready and waiting for the slightest trigger.(please do not ask me for any proof..its just a hypothesis, which most probably is true.)

The other reason rarely researched is,women sometime cry when they need to get a job done, men inevitably fall for it(as they always want woman to be happy ;) )

That reminds me of Hillary Clinton, on the eve of the NewHampshire Primary, all polls were pointing to a certain Obama victory, during her last address to the press, Hillary unleashed her most potent weapon yet..."a teary eye"!. What happened next has put the whole presidential process on a completely new trajectory...since US presidents have the best political clout....now we see that womens tears could be linked to major global ramifications....phew!

All said, the exact reason why women cry so frequently is yet to be explored and understood....my view is it could be a random mixture of the above.

The Cheerleading chumba wamba

Cheerleaders!...who are these people, what cheer do they bring, who exactly do they lead ?
They are all over the network from NFL to NBA,Newsweek calls them "the most quintessential of American sports."...........Sport! really??

My view is that this is an absolute and best form of making a mockery out of a living soul, these people jiggle around mindlessly when sports men and women fight for prestige and livelihood in their professional matches. The intensity of their wiggle and jiggle increases during timeouts and breaks. People pay their hard earned bucks to watch and enjoy a competitive sport and all of a sudden out of no where you are treated to Hi-tech tribal dance, now these have even reached our ever so favourite cricket matches..remember the 20-20 world cup.

The other day I was watching the movie 'The Replacements'(as I didn't have any other options and downloading a movie is a real pain with a pathetically slow internet), at the climax when men fight for honor and glory in their sport we are intermittently bombarded by these cheerleaders who are striking some licentious, lewd postures....who the hell cares about those curves and their complicated postures when the game is going on pulsating mood, what exactly was the director telling(I am sure nothing) or may be it was just a marketing/business ploy to increase the viewer excitement...that is exactly what it didn't achieve.

To sum it up I quote the Wisconsin Press, "the cheerleader is seen as epitomizing mindless enthusiasm, shallow boosterism, and objectified sexuality"

little known fact.........President George.W.Bush was once a cheerleader....now that says a lot!
